Eric Holder on voter ID laws: ‘We call those poll taxes’

Speaking before the NAACP, Attorney General Eric Holder departed from his prepared speech on Tuesday, decrying voter ID laws that have been proposed in 10 states so far. Talking Points Memo reports:
"Under the proposed law, concealed handgun licenses would be acceptable forms of photo ID, but student IDs would not," Holder said. "Many of those without IDs would have to travel great distances to get them, and some would struggle to pay for the documents they might need to obtain them. We call those poll taxes."
Holder isn't the first to say such laws are racist. Benjamin Todd Jealous, CEO and president of the NCAAP, evoked the civil rights movement Monday, comparing the moment to "Selma and Montgomery times." Jealous unilaterally opposed the laws,
saying, "Simply put, the NAACP will never stand by as any state tries to encode discrimination into law."
Mitt Romney will speak before the NAACP on Wednesday. Jealous, who posits that Romney could garner more votes from African Americans than John McCain did in 2008 when Barack Obama received 96 percent of the black vote, believes Romney's economic message has not played well so far.
"If he's going to pick up more support in the black community," Jealous told the Times, "he has to send a message that he's prepared to lead on issues that we care about." For Jealous, that means opposing voter ID laws.
Romney has so far been reticent to discuss the issue. Andrea Saul, a campaign spokeswoman, told the Times only, "Gov. Romney believes that every legal vote should count."
MTW- It is a hardship for anybody of any color, or creed, to go to the well-run Department of Motor Vehicles, and timely receive a photo ID. I believe these are not laws targeting the Black Community, which I have a great deal of respect for. It is aimed at preventing illegal aliens, without Citizenship of THIS Country, to cast a vote for Obama, as they are in his debt through his stopping of deportations. Eric Holder, at this point, has zero credibility to even have an opinion. It simply shows that he is not worried about his Contempt of Congress charge, as his fellow Chicago hoodlum, the infamous Barry Soetoro- Obama, will pardon him if he is convicted. Even Holder seems to think Barry is a shoe-in, or the election is already fixed; so why should he worry? Obama’s Executive Privilege used on the Operation Fast and Furious was not allowable. Should not the President of the United States know when it is his right to use the Privilege? I would think that he should. Did he not graduate from Harvard? When did he change his name to Obama after his Foreign Exchange Student Scholarship at Occidental, when he was an Indonesian Citizen named Barry Soetoro? It sounds a little like fraud to me. He has conned his way into office, and has done one horrible job. The present Administration has our Government running nearly as effective as the DMV. Like shit. We do not need any more Obama, or whatever name he is currently going by, which of his multiple Social Security numbers he uses, nor do we need any more of his continuous stream of lies. No More Obama! We do need to make sure ALL of the people who cast a vote are indeed American Citizens, and also not a deceased persons whom have had their identity stolen by an illegal. They will. They owe him for just being here. Why is this a hardship which is only spoken of for pertaining to the Black Community? I cannot figure it out. Do they not drive, or have the ID to get prescriptions? They should have a Birth Certificate to get a license to drive, or any other form of legal Identification. I sure as hell did, just like my Parents, and Grandparents before them. I believe they are counting their illegal votes before they have been cast, and are getting mad as hell if it seems they cannot steal another election. You need a Driver’s License or photo ID to pawn something, or cash a check, open a bank account, and many, many other everyday things Americans do. Enough said. You even need a photo ID to go to the Hospital. What the Hell is going on? You have to have Identification for EVERY other thing in this Country. Why not, for the MOST important thing to ID people for, a Presidential Election? Why is this a form of discrimination to Black People? The best bit of info I got from this article is this: The President of the NAACP is Ben Jealous. I think that says it all. Seriously, comparing the need for Identification to Selma and Mongomery times? Really? Wow! Who is actually more racist, Black people, or White people? We all know the answer.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
