Friday morning, President Barack Obama ate a breakfast of eggs, bacon and wheat toast at Josephine "Ann" Harris' restaurant in Akron, Ohio. She met the president, and embraced him. A few hours later, she was dead. The Akron Beacon Journal said Harris, 70, apparently succumbed to a heart attack.
Obama, winging his way back to Washington aboard Air Force One, telephoned her daughter, Wilma Parsons, according to White House press secretary Jay Carney.
"The president expressed his sorrow and his condolences at the very sad event. He was honored to meet her this morning and passed on his feelings that the whole family is in his thoughts and prayers today," Carney told reporters. Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki read a statement from the campaign's Ohio director, Greg Schultz.
"We're extremely saddened by Ann's sudden passing this morning. Our sincere condolences go to Ann's family during this difficult time. As a small business owner, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and a friend of many throughout the community, Ann led an exceptional life and will be missed by all who knew her. Ann and her family are in our thoughts and prayers."
"I'm sure this was her highlight," Frankie Adkins, Harris' sister, told the Akron Beacon Journal. "She loved Obama."
MTW-I guess there mere act of touching Barry Soetoro is enough to kill you. He did not even deliver condolences to the family in person, or by telephone. Dick! I will not refer to him as our President, for I am starting to doubt that he even knows when and where he was born; and for what purpose? He has 2 aliases (he perjured himself about that to the Illinios Bar Association, so is he even an Attorney?) and a slew of Social Security numbers; also 52 addresses dug up by a skip tracer, owned by the Obamas, but with deeds listing names or aliases such as Tom Jones, and Tony Tiger. Wow! Did he fix an election as well? My President will not be a criminal, and I DID NOT vote for you. Not many people will admit that they voted for him when I ask; however, the ones that do are VERY defensive, and are still blaming Bush. He has bred into the American People a division, that if allowed to keep festering, will lead us into a terrible time. Some folks only know what they see in commercials as their political opinion. It is a shame, what this Great Nation is deteriorating into. Now, they want to sign an Arms Treaty with the UN, for gun control. It would seem they are now attacking the Second Amendment (and why not, he has not been called on his other crimes), and may try and mess with our guns, as if WE are the terrorists; if we give up our guns we will be invaded, plain and simple. This is why they botched the Fast and Furious Program, to stir up sympathy towards gun control. They run a background check on EVERY firearm sold at the gun shows. The Armed Citizens of this Country are what has kept people out, unless they cross the border with Mexico. The UN is Impotent and unimportant, and needs to leave our soil, ending our invovement in the World's problems. We have enough here. No More Obama! Nobama-Nobiden in 2012!
