A Message From Sen. Rand Paul

Dear Fellow Conservative,
In just a couple of weeks, we’ll be celebrating our nation’s birthday.
It’s a day I usually spend barbecuing in the backyard with family and friends.
But there is one guest in attendance who did not receive an invite:
Big Brother’s eye in the sky.
While we’re all enjoying the freedom from oppressive government our founding fathers fought for, unmanned drones hover over our heads cataloguing if we separated our recyclables from the garbage.
Drones buzzing over our homes, farms, ranches and businesses, and spying on our every move is a clear violation of our rights.
And that needs to stop. IMMEDIATELY.
I have a plan to put a stop to warrantless government spying by drones that I’ll share with you in a moment, but first I want to take a moment to explain why this fight is so crucial.
You see, you and I are battling powerful forces.
The crony capitalists who make these drones and sell them to the government for hundreds of millions of dollars are joined at the hip with the supporters of the surveillance state.
They feed Big Government’s desire to snoop on every aspect of our lives in exchange for bleeding the taxpayers dry.
We should not be treated like criminals or terrorists for living our everyday lives. And we should not have our Fourth Amendment rights violated by warrantless government spying.
That’s why I introduced the Preserving Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act of 2012.
This bill:
1 Forces law enforcement to obtain a warrant from a judge before dispatching drones to fly over our property.
2 Forbids the use of evidence illegally obtained by warrantless drone flights from being used in any criminal, civil or regulatory action.
3 Permits citizens to sue the government for any violations of this act.
4 Provides exceptions for patrolling the border, to act in the case of imminent danger to human life or high risk of a terrorist attack.
My bill simply restates the Fourth Amendment.
Only in Washington would it be necessary to pass legislation restating the supreme law of the land.
You see, the establishment is already searching for a way to sideline this act. They snort at any attempt to curtail Big Government’s power to reach into our lives.
Sure, they can try to marginalize me.
But what they can’t ignore is you.
That’s why I’m asking you to sign your “1 Million Strong against Drones” declaration. The only way you and I are going to get a vote on my bill to end warrantless drone spying is by generating a groundswell of grassroots support that is so overwhelming,
the establishment has no choice but to take action.
You see, warrantless drones tracking our every move do not make us any safer.
It only shreds our Fourth Amendment protections.
In one of his famous speeches, Ronald Reagan spoke about the dangers facing America from Big Government.
He said if we did not stand up and fight back against Big Government power grabs, we would “spend our sunset years telling our children, and our children’s children, what it was once like when men were free.”
His words resonate even more deeply today as you and I face the prospect of being denied the right to freely go about our daily lives without being spied on and tracked by the police state’s warrantless drone snooping.
Please also share this on Facebook, tweet it, and post it to any social media site to spread the word that the day of crony capitalists and surveillance state politicians collaborating to bilk the taxpayers into funding our loss of liberty has passed.
For Liberty,

Rand Paul
United States Senator

P.S. Warrantless drone spying is a violation of our Fourth Amendment rights.
That’s why I introduced the Preserving Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act of 2012.
MTW- He is also asking for you to sign a petition and pledge a donation (politicians). I have edited that, and given you information that is useful. He has a good point. We do still have a Constitution, I think. Not quite as bad as Michelle Obama telling us to give up our Birthday and Wedding gifts-money from our loved ones- over to their campaign. Damn! Groveling. I am not joking. Nobama-Nobiden in 2012!
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
